Lessons

 

Lessons are essential for the devoloping musician and should be started from the students first day for the best success. Here are some general guidlines for lessons.

 

 Lesson Rates: $30 per half hour; additional $5 per half hour for weekends.

  

      Accepted method of payments for lessons is Cash or Check. All payments should be made out to Eric P. McJimsey, and should be paid in full at the beginning of each month for the desired number of lessons for that month. If a lesson needs to be cancelled or rescheduled I need to be given 24 hour notice. If this is done after the 24 hour mark, I can not guarantee a make up lesson or refund. If a lesson needs to be canceled, a make up lesson can be made. If I need to cancel a lesson, then a refund will be given if a make-up can not be made. All students must show up to lessons with all necessary materials (instrument, reeds, equipment, music), or they could potentially  forfeit their lesson time.

 

    I do drive to surrounding areas of Houston. Extra fees may apply to make up for gas and driving time. Pricing can be decided on a case by case basis. I also encourage the performing in ensembles and do offer ensemble coaching, please feel free to ask if interested in this.

 

    Lessons will consist of Scale Study, Long Tones, Voicing Techniques, Altissimo Practice, Etudes, and Repertoire. All students are required to practice and come prepared. A minimum practice time for 30 Minute lessons is 1 hour a day, and 2 hours a day for 1 hour lessons. It is strongly encouraged that grades 5-7 take 30 minute lessons and grades 8-12 take an hour. Only the highest level and dedicated players will be recommended for 1.5 Hour lessons. Recommendations can be made on a case by case basis.
